Hi! I want to ask is this knife the same crap as the other S&W models. Here in Bulgaria it costs 70 $.

Yep. If I recall correctly the materials on that one might make you think it's nicer than the usual S&W models; G10 and all that... But it's going to be put together poorly.

I' m attracted by it's solid design /copy of Extrema/. Maybe under the black titanium coating the steel is not 440.
The blade is more massive than other folders.

Hey Guys..

Metal Blade...

Unless bullets come out the end of it,, I stay away from S&W..

For $70 you can do much better....

ttyle

Eric....

Thanks for the replays:)
Here in Sofia /capital of Bulgaria/ you can find only few trademarks - S&W, Muela, Victorinox, Boker, SOG and Cold steel / each mark is represented by 3-4 models/. The prices are higher than in USA /which of course is normal, because of the shipment taxes/.
The other model which I' m wondering about is Cold steel Peacekeeper II.

I hope that it's better than S&W. I also have Desperado. Here you have no problems with Stilletos, other automatic knives, daggers and push daggers:)

How is the prices on European knives? Knives I've seen from Russia, Italy ( some) , and the Czech Republic ( especially Mikov) look pretty well made.

Oh, here is impossible to find Mikov knives or original Italian Stillettos. The variety of knives is very restricted. Prices of Muela, Joker, Nieto, Boker are relatively low than in EU /with 20-30 Euro, depending on model/. The knife market is full of chinese craps and fakes :).

I picked up a S&W at Big 5 once ($17 I think). Horrible piece of junk. The knife wouldn't take any sort of edge except an extremely coarse saw-toothy edge, and wouldn't hold it. The coating seemed like it was gun bluing and came off with Simichrome. Very thin linerlock with tenious lock stability.

I looked at another one once and the blade actually banged against one of the standoffs in the closed position.

There's some that were designed by Darrel Ralph, and these are of higher quality. Well, better designs anyway, they still suffer from bad blade steel (and/or heat treat), but at least these won't fold on your fingers.

Have not had any problems with mine.

What other knives do you have to compare it to?
I have a couple linder daggers and a benchmade.
I am not informed about knives but I thought they were a heck of deal.
You guys seem like you would know better then I about such things.

The knife. You asked if the knife was the same crap as other S&W knives. And THAT was my answer! The knife is crap. Or as I put it, crapper doodle doo.

Been to Bulgaria in late 80… Happy to hear you've got that liberal knife laws.
Btw, what's about Turkish laws? I'm going there for vacations.
