...for those of you that do not "Republic of China".

Is Republic of China, Aka Taiwan...

I noticed the R.O.C. in the S&W seal on the blade and was hoping it stood for something other than Republic of China, but that was the only thing I could figure it stood for.

Thank you everyone for your responses.

Taiwan is part of China.

Kit will have to agree that knives made it Taiwan from SOME makers are very high quality. Its like anything else in life . You get what you pay for. Some economies are better suited to produce certain products better than others. The Tai folks have focused on knives over the last 5-8 years making quality their first priority.

The factory having the knife produced have a choice of the quality they want to provide to the public. Look for the good stuff but expect to pay more than $10.00.

The neck knives you seen at Koval are D2 and produced in the USA.
Knifekits.com carries products from all around the world.
We go to the vendor best suited to the product design that we are working on to get the highest possible quality.

I don't have any problem with the quality of the knives from Taiwan. CRKT does a great job working with them, and they pay the design maker. I just have a problem with punkinheads that agree to pay a fee for the use of a design, change it a little, and claim it was their idea and that they didn't copy anything.
Yes, it was a long time ago (mid 90's) but I hold a grudge for ever.
