I just picked up a smith and wesson powerglide tanto. Its a neat knife. On the blade it says "first production run" 1 of 5000

Does this mean i actually OWN the FIRST one??? Or does it mean that its just 1 of the 5000 in existence? If it is THE first one would it be worth more(i'd sell it to a more serious collector) and if so how much is a #1 first production run knife worth?.thanks.just trying to figure out if they are indeed individually numbered or not.

"1 of X" usually means that the knife is one out of X knives. Not the first one. It's a tricky way of numbering the knives.

so theres no 2 of 5000, 3 of 5000 powerglides out there? I thought i got lucky and snagged a gem.............can anyone confirm that the S&W knives are not sequentially numbered? Well anyways its a nice "different" knife

S&W knives are not sequentially numbered. All of that model will say "1 of 5,000"
