Love the platform and I live in the rain forest so stainless is key. I've been flip-flopping all day. What to do, what to do?

Why not get one of the LC200N knives? Easy to sharpen, rust proof. S110V isn’t prized for its corrosion resistance so much as it’s edge-retention... and if you aren’t big into sharpening, that’s the worst choice.
I have a LW Manix in 110 and it was very hard to sharpen, but has been fairly easy to maintain after I got my edge on it. Do you have any experience comparing the two steels, as far as edge retention? I'm not familiar with LC200N.

LC200N loses its edge quick but sharpens quick. I’m just saying if your concern is corrosion, I’d lean toward that. S110V is a bear to sharpen, I wouldn’t recommend it without diamonds.

The knife will probably arrive sharp enough for you to be content with, but you will want to keep it sharp, (maintenance), and not use it until it is dull and no longer slicing telephone paper or newsprint cleanly.

Diamonds are the best solution for sharpening 110V, but you can maintain it on the stones of a Sharpmaker if you keep up with it.

The recommendation of LC200N might make sense to have something you can restore to sharp much more easily, but you have to decide how much effort you want to put into owning high quality knives / steel.

I'd get the s30v if you have trouble sharpening. S110v is the only steel that I don't enjoy sharpening. It's not hard per se just takes a while. It is very stainless though and holds an edge for a crazy amount of time.

How did you guys get different kinds of memberships here? I understand about the Super Mod, but what are gold and platinum?
