S110v or M390?

Check "Knife reviews and Testing" on this forum. Ankerson
has a detailed discussion of these and other steels.

There is only one true answer when it comes to such a broad question as "which one is better?".
That answer is It Depends.

We can only answer this question with now detail once we are provided with more detail from your end.

Ease of sharpening, M390
Working Edge retention, s110v
Toughness, m390
Corrosion resistance, ???
(I am not sure if the Niobium in s110v will offset the higher Chromium of m390)
------
We need to know what Your preferences are, what You would be using the knife for, models in mind (since some are ran to a higher HRC than others), environment used it might be a factor (but not likely much of one).

^^^ This is basically the same answer I was going to provide.
I have worked with both, and have EDC knives in both steels that I use.
It really depends on what you want to spend and/or which you want more.

Hey there OP...I'm going to sway a bit from the more mature reply of it depends, and say IMO, they're both very nice steels of course, but M390 or CPM-20CV is the better overall knife steel - boom, answered. Seriously though, you're not going to end up kicking yourself for choosing either one.
