S30v, Cpm-154cm, Vg-10, D-2????

well, I guess I am going to vary from the norm, but my vote is for vg-10. As far as edge retention goes, it has my vote amongst all mentioned. I have been using vg-10 steel in my kasumi kitchen knives for about 4 years and they are awesome. I carry a sog vulcan with the vg-10 blade and can;t find a complaint for the life of me. in the end, all are good steel, so I doubt you will be dissapointed by any of them. trust in what you carry and your ability in it will always overcome the minute differences is all these quality steels.

Too late now. This thread is 2 1/2 years old.

Okay, who's the necromancer that brought this dinosaur to life? :D

Wow, this was when S30V was reigning supreme, now it's S90V and other crazy steels. I used to know them all by heart, now I have some catching up to do as to the properties of the new ones.
