S30V folder under 2.5" blade length?

Even the Bladetech mouse that was made in Japan in 440C was good one. You can still find them. i have one and it is just as good as my S30V blade mouse for less than half the price.

Well, overall quality is more important than "S30V," I agree. 440c with excellent heat treat is better than s30V with a poor heat treat, etc.

What I really am looking for here is a knife with a blade between 2" and 2.5" with middling or better corrosion resistance and "cut all day between sharpenings" ability.

You may be able to find a Spyderco Kopa - it is in VG10 and < 2.5" - There are some Moki knives that are in VG10 and less than 2.5".
You may even see a Spyderco Kiwi on someone's website. The older locking version is a nice knife, but in VG10.

As many have already said, there are a lot of decent options out there if your friend is willing to drop the S30V requirement. Spyderco offers many knives under 2.5", most in VG10, including the Cricket, Dragonfly and Ladybug. SOG has the Twitch 1 and Flash 1 which are both excellent (the Flash 1 being right on the nose @ 2.5".) Two Kershaws that come to mind are the Chive and Scallion. I'm not well versed in the Benchmade line-up, but the Benchmite in 154CM seems to be quite popular...

This is getting up there in price but..... Emerson cqc-14 snubby.... It was designed to be legal pretty much anywhere. It's a Emerson so the price is going to reflect that, but it is high quality. The best place I've found that you can find it for a reasonable price is E-bay.

...

Just thought I'd throw that one in there sense no one else has.

You need to find out what the actual laws are for the area your friend is in. The written law. Makes a big difference in what you can carry.

Of course, I've got my CCW permit. I can carry whatever I want. ;)

Bladetech actually made one of their smaller knives in S30V. You could probably do some looking and find one.
