I doubt there will be any gross blade failures, that isn't a prybar style knife anyway. That being said, there really isn't any need for anything but the edge to be ZDP-189 as that is the only part that cuts, and laminates can keep the cost of manufacturing down. Spyderco used this steel well in the Calypso Jr. which is commonly recommended for a high performance cutting folder, ideal for that steel.
