S30v Leek

Ceramic rods are something new to me. Of course I've heard of them, but I've never used them myself. I have an old Lansky my Dad left me, and I've used it for 10 years.Have you used them (the rods) enough to recommend one?

Sure. If I have my Sharpmaker handy, I use one of those rods. But the easiest is the Gatco Tri-Seps. Practically the same as the Sharpmaker rods except it is shorter -- pocketsize -- and it has rubber bumpers on each end to make it easier to hold.

You can also use it for its primary purpose of touching up an edge. :D

Lansky also makes a dogbone sharpener and I imagine there are others on the market.

Thanks for the tip, EB. I'll post results when I get my hands on one.

Hey Joe Dirt, did you try that thumb stud method yet? I find it quite satisfying to open the knife that way. And To Thomas, any comments on the "easy open notch?

waynorth, truthfully I like your "easy open notch"....a lot. Personally, I don't have an issue opening the Leek with the thumb studs, but maybe that is because I open them all day. I can see how the "notch" could assist when using the thumb stud to open the blade. Real nice addition to the Leek IMHO.
