S30V - polished or toothy?

Buck286,

Does that mean it's not chipping now? Does it cut aggressively on rope, other cordage and card board with the polished edge you are creating?

Glad you found the best sharpening method for your Native.
:)

The chipping seems to have dissapated (sp?). I can't say how well it cuts heavy cordage, but it cuts some light rope I had laying around just fine. Its a good all-purpose edge, if I feel I need more bite maybe I'll try a coarser finish again, but I am concerned the chipping and dulling will come back, so...

I like them polished....
kinda happens anyways by default coz i strop on leather/crO rouge regularly...

I maintain the edge with the corners of the whites at 40°. It is true that S30V stands 30° easily, but for my needs 40° works just fine.
