I think if you read this thread you'll see that either S30V had problems early on that have now been rectified in the manufacturing process, or the problems reported here earlier appeared to be more widespread than they actually were. I think it is a bit of both.
Human nature tends to cause people to complain more often than they laud. This goes for products and services. It takes awhile before the preponderance of positive public opinion overtakes the initial minority negative expression. As they say in Total Quality Management a bad impression grows exponetially and it takes 100 times the amount of effort to correct a mistake that gets beyond the control point where the mistake is made.
