S30V Stockmans, anyone?

I emailed Buck this morning requesting that they produce stockmans with S30V blades. I don't own a Buck, but would like to, and would like one of their stockmans because I like that the straight edge blade opposes the main blade. Not only did I get a response, I got this response within two hours of my email. Now I definitely want to be a Buck customer:

"Hi Drew,

We’ve actually been discussing adding the 300 series knives to our custom knife shop, and if this happens, we will definitely offer S30V. This isn’t something that will happen this year, but check back with us in 2018 to see the progress of this product.

Hope this helps!"

I started this thread because I figured that I wouldn't be the only one to pipe up and say, "I want one!" And the more echoes we get, I'm sure the more Buck will feel the favor.

This is one of the most exciting things I've read in a knife forum! I really do hope this happens. I would be down for at least two knives.

I'll go with you if you include the Trapper pattern in the list. A model 334 Buck Trapper. DM

I think that'd make a lot of people happy. However, they can put whatever steel they wanted in a 301, but if it had those horribly weak back springs I wouldn't touch one...

They did a run of 100 301's for the collector club in BG-42 and had trouble selling them all. I wouldn't think there would be enough demand for Buck to bother. A few "I wants" on the forum does not a profitable product make.

A upgraded steel would be nice but only if they went back to the old flat ground blades.

I too don't see it as a production offering but in the CS it makes sense to me. I'd pop for a few.

Anything I've ever gotten from the custom shop was perfect. I'ld bite for sure.

I have one that I got on BF for 100 bucks. Best buy on a stockman in premium steel ever.

I'm afraid I agree with JD on this one. I just really don't care for their weak springs on the newer made issues. If it's custom shop though, it might be possible to see if they can make it a little heavier.

Probably not as it is not really a "Custom Shop" so much as a-la-carte assembly of pretty much standard components, just more selection and assembled at the time of order.

This has been brought up before and Buck has been contacted about this in the past. It looks like they figure there might be enough interest in this idea for a CS offering. I hope this happens. I would definitely get one. 420HC is not my favorite steel. It is not awful, but there are better steels available nowadays. S30V is quickly becoming the average standard for quality knives.

Be nice if the 301 makes it to the custom shop they give the choice of 425HC, S30V, and 1095 or 5160 blades.

Copper and Clad should ask Buck about making a higher end Stockman.
