S30V vs S35VN ???

I can tell you that it didn't matter one bit to me. The difference is insignificant as general EDC goes.

So are you saying that I would be better served by getting the Zaan in S30V, rather than waiting? There are a few of these available from Internet merchants.

Thanks for the input!

No, not better served. Well, your impatience might be better served by getting an S30V now rather than waiting for an S35VN later. ;)

I just received a pdf of the specs for S35VN from Heather at CRK. Although much of it was beyond my ken, salient features were 15-20% improved toughness over S30V, and therefore more resistance to edge chipping. It is also easier to machine and polish, which obviously makes it less costly for production.

But does it hold an edge longer, and is it easier to sharpen? BTW, patience is not a problem for me, in this instance!

The biggest question to be asked here is.....if s35vn has thirty percent more toughness ,why not run it at 60?why whyy why why. S30 at 60 holds just enough to keep me happy. At 58 I'm not.. I don't want to hear the sharpening reason . If you can buy a knife over three hundred dollars chances are you can sharpen that knife
