Or similar high end stainless steels.
A friend of mine is after a
small folder,
Preferable liner lock
maximum 3.1/2 inches
Tanto, bowies, skinning profile sort of thing with decent belly.
Sturdy Flat handles generally speaking and the more important thing.
Pretty looking.

Looking for nothing super fancy, perhaps Ano'd Ti scales or something ya know...Women...

Can anyone recommend something, I don't generally travel outside the Balisongs genre myself so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

For liner locks, Kershaw has some pretty nice offerings in that size with S30V steel. The Blur comes to mind right away. There are a couple of others, I just don't know a lot about Kershaw's current lineup.

If you want to try an AXIS lock, a Benchmade Ritter mini-Grip from Aeromedix might be something your friend would like.

Spyderco's UKPK is a great knife in S30V but it's a slipjoint... doesn't lock open.

Take a look at some of the folders by Fallkniven with 3G steel as the laminate core .It's pretty close to S30V according to the composition. I'm about to test out that steel !

you've pretty much described the Spyderco Paramilitary. If that's too big, there's always the Caly or Native (but these are backlocks, not liner).

I've been loving the heck out of my Benchmade Mini-Rukus 615. LINK

Not a liner lock (thank goodness) and this is my first axis lock and I fell in love, absolutely love this knife. :)

Benchmade 940? It's nicer looking and lighter than my small sebenza or spyderco caly 3 (it has green handles and purple handle spacer).

Damn you guys are fast in here. thanks for all the suggestions.
Mete let me know how your Vg steel works out, Shes already interested in that one.

Thanks for all the other suggestions.
So far the sebenza is out...
The BM skirmish is a definite possibility...
The blur does look good, but I can't personally recommend a 440a to this girl...
Spyderco, too pointy, but she likes the G10
U1 and U2 are in there for cuteness, But hows the steel on it?

If theres any other suggestions based on this criteria let me know...

On a personal I love the look of those katana and yorio blades, very nice for completely different reasons.

Well, let's see here...
The S30V blur would be a first pick, but the blade is ugly looking to me...
If she's a woman, she might like Kershaw's leek line.
Kershaw has a couple of S30V blade leeks, but the one that comes to line for a woman would be the rainbow leek. (I have one and the steel is fine compared to an S30V knife)

Otherwise, if price is of no object, get a nice Benchmade.

Oh, what is she going to use the knife for? Heavy use? Slicing up boxes? etc.

The Kershaw Blur comes in Sandvik 13c26, not 440A. But, it was suggested because you can get in in S30V, which I have and it's an amazing knife.

Liner lock, under 3 1/2 inches, looks good, and cuts even better.

Yeah, most of Kershaw's knives come in sandvik 13C26, but there is an S30V blur (and I've heard of an SG2 or something like that Blur, but those are rare)

I forgot to mention that the grip on the blurs is great--non-slip, stippled surface on the newer ones and a sandpaper type on the older ones.

The kershaw is back in the running then, The 9** she would hate, but the 480 nakamura, She has one very similar in looks anyway but no where near the same quality. I am not sure about money yet but thats Got to be her dreamy one anyway.

Let you know in a few hours.
Any other suggestions keep them coming, but at this very fast rate she is more likely going to be overwhelmed already.

Thanks again guys.

Oh, skinning will be the main use, hence edge retention is prime concern, but wood handled is better than bone or antler for fish guts, and general other stuff I suppose.
The flat handles are so I can build her an easy to use sharpening jig with a 6000/1000 japanese stone combo...
