S35V The New Emerson Standard?

This info is easy to misinterpret. Sorry about that. Just the CQC-7 Flipper will be S35V.

Whew - that was close. Emerson does 154CM right and I would have, personally, not liked the switch to S35VN on all models.

Part of the reason I buy Emerson's is for the 154CM heat treat and edge geometry. There's something to be said for knife manufacturers that push the limits when it comes to new steels, but Mr. Emerson has a Formula and that Formula works very well.

If it was good enough for turbine blades and B.Loveless, then it's good enough to have a place in my pocket.

+1. I agree!

Once upon the time, bullock car used to be good enough for mankind... But guess what? time change and everything change... man learn to adopt for better stuff... Thank for those inventor who works hard in the past, now we have truck

Knife blade material goes the same way... people used to rely their life with poor quality blade in the past... bronze, obsidian etc. but for now the metallurgy come so far and we can have better material, I don't see why we wouldn't what EKI to chance to S35VN....

I don t see why either

Oh and no bearings!!!

Being a huge Emerson fan, I was once like you and shied away from bearings (why complicate things). I was skeptical about them on the Iron Dragon but loved the design so much that I bought one during its first run. Since then (bout 8 months) I have yet to take it apart or add any lube. I have carried it through a rainy 4 day backpacking trip, cleaned fish and squirrel, and use it on my small farm almost daily now and the blade will still fall from its own weight. It has totally changed my opinion on bearings.

As far as the new steel goes, I too am surprised that Mr. Emerson didn't go to CPM 154. I have only had one blade in S35 and I liked it, but I LOVE the 154cm!
