If you guys wanted a BOSS Street, but were a bit strapped for cash. Would you sell your Scrapper 5 LE to finance a BOSS Street?

If you are wanting to buy a S5 LE, this is the wrong forum.

.

The Scrapper 5 LE is satin INFI isn't it.

If so no, maybe a wife or a OK hunting dog but not satin INFI. JMTC.:D

Good luck.

I have held both. Totally different feel. I really think I would keep the Scraper LE. Such a great looking knife, and great feel too. So light in the hand. The Boss feels totally different. Much heavier, and handle heavy too.

It all depends on your own preference. I did totally love the feel of the Boss in hand (it was a prototype).

Thanks for the "handle heavy" heads up....I asked this on the pic thread....I thought it might be....in which case I will pass....I really like the S5LE....very hard to better it's qualities....

I was wondering about that as well. I will keep my S5 LE as well. I really do love the shape of the BOSS Street blade. I have a Bark River Gunny, RC-3, and my Scrapper 5 LE so I'll have to think about whether or not to pull the trigger on this one. Plus, I just spend nearly $500 on my BWM!

I do really like this BOSS offering from Busee...I think it'll be a great one.

I'm right with you on that!

I already have too many great knives in this size class that are thinner and have a usable choil which are KEY points for me - specifically my RC-3 and Fehrman Peacemaker...

Unless there is a thinner version, I'm going to be passing and putting the $$ to maybe a second BWM...

Yeah, I would much rather have an S5LE than a BOSS Street. The S5LE is lighter, has the crazy comfortable mudder handle, a usable choil, and better balance. No contest in my eyes.

INFI + mudders is one of the best combinations to come out of Ohio.

Different strokes . . .

I have what I consider to be the best of both worlds . . . a S5CG with the thumb ramp removed and DCBB Boss Street. I didn't buy a S5LE when they were available for two reasons. First, I didn't think that nearly doubling the price of the S5CG for an alloy change and a satin finish would increase its performance by anywhere near a like amount. And second, changing the alloy and satin-finishing the blade wasn't going to overcome the S5's biggest problem . . . it's too blade heavy!!!

The BOSS Street feels just right in my hand. Unlike my S5CG, when I hold my BOSS Street in a natural position and gently relax my grip, it tends to stay put. In an EDC blade, that's more than a big plus as far as I'm concerned. So if it were me and I had a S5LE, I'd gladly exchange it for a BOSS Street.

not a chance. I know everybody's all gushy about the BOSS street and the BWM, but I just haven't been able to get excited about either one. I'm waiting to see what drops next, and enjoying the hell out of my S5LE in the meantime.

I wouldn't exactly use the word "gushy" to describe some of the comments I've seen about the BOSS Street. But I like mine WAY MORE than I like my S5. If that's being gushy, call me gushy! ;)

The real difficult thing is coming to reality and convincing myself that I don't need and can't afford each and every offering that comes out from Busse. I want, I want. But I have to be able to justify it...more than just want. Especially in tough times. I would love to have the BOSS Street, but I may have to get rid of something else to get it....or just wait. When they're only available for a limited time, it really makes you want to pull the trigger so you don't miss out. I better sit tight for now.

Thanks for the input. Obviously different folks are gonna have different opinions. One thing's for sure, the new BOSS is a great knife.

Being the thrifty and prudent man that I am, already owning several fine knives in the BOSS Street size, I passed. But yeah, I might trade my S5LE for one. I have a nice S5CG that does just fine.

I'm right there with ya, mang! :D

For anyone who is curious just how much of a difference in balance there is, the S5LE balances on the spine at the Res-C, about an eighth of an inch behind where the res-c meets the thumb ramp. The BOSS Street balances about halfway between the first two tube fasteners on the scales.

It's just weird to take hold of my S5 in a natural position and slowly release my grip, MM. The knife falls forward toward the blade every time I do that. I expect that in a chopper. But not in an EDC.

Two different uses. I wouldn't consider the S5xx an EDC, at least not for urban use. More of the perfect hiking, farm or light camp knife for me. Like the RMD, it is a very versitile design.
