Had some fun with this one - removable Desert Ironwood scales.

This one took a bit more time, a bit more machining required, but as a very part time tinkerer, was happy with the end result.

wow!

what kind of screws are those?

Screws are a one off, started life as a piece of stainless rod, machined on a lathe. Fastens into a piece of stainless tube. Screws and tube are tapped and dyed.

A bit of mucking about, but should be easy to interchange with future Mules.

Left the handles a bit bulky and not really sculptured, but wanted to keep a solid grip, so I could use the Mules for their intended purpose, to test the different steels.

Initial impressions on S90V - this is some seriously hard steel, that is really hard to grind, but holds an excellent working edge for a long time.

Thank you Spyderco for this opportunity to play with some exotic steels ,and to be motivated to try my hand at building a blade - well maybe just the handles.

Nice job Stockman.

Thanx for the interest and support. Glad we sould stimulate your creative juices.

Looks great---I love the bookmatching of the grain in the shot from above! The homemade screws are a nice touch as well. I bought some stainless bolts that I thought about using on mine but I eventually decided to use pins because I'm familiar with them.

I'm sad that Sal didn't say 'nice job' about my pix:(
