Didn't think S90v will also rust.

Before purchasing (years ago), I did research said S90v is super rust/corrsion resistant, and uncommon in daily use.
As one of my most favorite knife (before Buck 110 purchased days ago, sorry I mention it once again), I bring this 15017-1 almost every hiking in the past 2 years, placed it in the hip-belt pocket, maybe 10 times in rain (about 2-6 hours every time) and moisture weather, no other special use cases, then placed it in collection box, today I find the spot...

But I did wipe and dry it once after getting back or after cutting food.

Just wanted to post and tell😁

Yep appears to be rust. S90v is not rustproof. That's barely anything honestly.

Thanks, can this be removed easily? I mean from s90v

no, the original sheath, why?
My Buck 124 Frontiersman has some patina. Likely caused by improper storage. Leather sheath related.

Let your knife wear that rust spot like a badge of honor. Or clean it off...

I see, one of my mushroom knife got patina after placing in leather sheath, I didn't correlate them together, now it's the clue!

The best things I’ve found that works on minor surface rust such as screw heads, the edges of liners and blades is a product called Boogie Wipes. It’s a saline based wipe.

'Corrosion Resistance' vs 'Proof'

Corrosion Resistance means that it can happen, but it wont be permanent.

As in Proof, like a Bullet Proof Vest, the vest will likely stop the bullet. However, there will be 'spot'. Probably a deep purple. It won't be permanent either.

The former can be cleaned off. The latter will take time and involve hospital food.

Either way, don't worry!

Use the hell out of that knife.

Flirt with the nurses.
