S90v Rust (Spot)?

Something I learned while I was welding years ago was that if you use the same belt to grind stainless steel as carbon steel, you’ll embed parts of that carbon steel in the stainless. We’ve had whole sheets of stainless rust because someone dragged a carbon steel sheet across it. Had to toss the whole thing out!

When we worked with stainless or aluminum, we would have specific grinding wheels for that task to prevent the issue from happening. It’s not fool proof because anything will rust over time, but it definitely got rid of the problem

What could’ve happened is that the manufacturer used their tooling on every kind of steel. It’s not a biggie, most companies will do this, but it could be an explanation! 😁

Any stainless steel will rust in the presence of iron. That looks like a little iron got on your blade and then rusted, not that the blade itself rusted.

S90v is not rust proof, maybe rust "resistant"
Try flitz, then afterwards if there's anything left its just apart of the knife, and move on
If you want rust proof use H2 or LC200N, maybe MagnaCut. I took magnacut out on the open ocean and not a spot or stain

One method that's kind of neat for removing small rust spots from blades:

Use some Bar Keepers Friend powder, mixed with a little bit of water to a paste consistency. Use a cotton swab (Q-tip) to apply a small amount of the paste to the rust spot. Wait 30-60 seconds and then rinse it off under running water. Bar Keepers Friend uses oxalic acid to dissolve oxides of iron, like rust. On a small, light spot like this, it likely won't even need any scrubbing. Just dab it on, wait a half-minute or a minute, then rinse it off. Don't leave it in contact with the steel any longer than a minute, as it's capable of etching the steel, even stainless steel, if it's left on too long.

Thanks for the advices!

I would imagine fitz would definitely take it off but not sure it could be done without taking some of the finish off the blade as it’s meant for polishing.
