Well about 30 minutes ago I went to check for my beloved D4 and it wasn't there. I retraced my steps (about half a mile of convoluted patrols) and it didn't turn up. I HATE this feeling! I figured y'all would understand; Lord knows the wife doesn't. :(

Guess I'll just have to carry my Salt 1 or Dragonfly. Or maybe this is a good excuse for a new knife...what a horrible day. Not to mention I'll be working 16hrs today. CURSES!

Did you have another knife on you? Its terrible to lose a knife, but even worse to be nekkid, knife-wise. :(

Nope I'm not nekkid. I've got my SAK on me and have my Woodswalker in the truck. Thanks for the condolences. It really does suck. I've been consoling myself saying it's just a knife, but it really feels like I lost a finger or did/said something I can't take back. That sinking, sick feeling. Oh well. I'll remedy my partial nudity when I get home. It's not like I don't have more! I'm REALLY trying to be optimistic.

I know what you mean, I let my sister borrow my Native for a few mins, forgot about it, and went to the hardware store. When I reached for my cash, didn't feel anything else in my pocket. I felt terrible, I had forgot completly about the fact that my sis had it. I had 3 other knives on me, so while not nekkid, I was Spydie nude. :thumbdn:

Then I got home, and my sis comes up to me, and says "I forgot about your knife, and left it in my pocket." I was so happy... :)

Opps, got a little side tracked there, but  .

I can relate. I lost a BRAND NEW D4 when I forgot it was in a pair of jeans I had tucked into my carry-on bag, tried to bring it through security. BOOOP BOOOP!
They pulled it out, I thought: DOH! I got that same sick, surprised feeling, like "ah shit there goes my weekend". So they gave me the option of taking it back through security and doing something with it, but I was about to miss my flight so with regret I told the bastids to keep it. "Oh, we don't keep the things we confiscate, this will get melted down." YEAH RIGHT, someone just scored big that day. So I can definitely relate brother...

I remember when i lost my first knife. It was a gerber EZout that my dad bought me about ten years ago. Lost it about 4 years ago in college. I think it got dropped and someone took it. Sigh....

Don't carry anything you can't afford to lose, figuratively and literally. I've lost a few things over the years but I just suck it up and move on. I hate to dwell on it. Of course it is not easy to lose something but I've learned to move on. Later on when the pain subsides, I look around to see what I can get to replace the item lost. Of course some things can't be replaced but I will have fun trying:D.

Sorry for your loss.

Bummer! I know that feeling, I once lost (misplaced) a mnandi and it drove me batty until I found it about a week later. At least you have other knives to carry until you find (replace) the D4.

Bungwrench, I'm not going to go ballistic on you because I don't know your background. I know what's sad and dark; the title of this thread was intended to be a joke. A title to amuse, among friends of like interests.

I've had 1 very close friend and 2 Brothers in Arms die in Iraq. I would appreciate it if you wouldn't comment on my choice of words so condescendingly. Lastly look at my profile; I served. You should really get to know someone before you make some off-handed and I believe off-color remark.

Thanks everyone! I'm feeling much better about it today. I've an old BK11 I'm gonna see if I can't trade for something new. I knew you guys would make me feel better!

I am sorry for your loss and feel your pain. Once, I misplaced my Caly3 and it was bad. Thanks god I found it.

It is the KNIFE GODS telling you in their way to seek out and find an old D3 to replace it with.

:D

Why, I know his background! He is none other than Fisher of men, David Lowery and many other alias names.
