At work, we go through DME equipment, anything out of warranty gets cord cut and trashed.
Just a reminder to always unplug any cord you cut, feel free to double check yourself...
I know Victorinox has a warranty, but they don't have old cross, or red alox...
I would like to find someone who could replace the main blade, any recommendations appreciated!

Send it to the Vic Service Center. They will replace the main blade only if that's what you specifically ask them to do.

I'm not so sure Vic can't replace that blade and leave the rest as is.
They respond well to e-mail.

Already went that route with Vic, they have awesome warranty.
Sent me a new silver one back with the old one.
I have seen where some people have covers, liners, and or tools changed. I just can't find where

In other words, Victorinox replaced your old knife with a new silver one, but didn't attempt to fix the old one? That's understandable, I guess, if too bad.

I wonder if trying again would make a difference...? If not, I hope someone provides you with a lead to someone who can take care of this for you.

Why were you cutting copper wire with a KNIFE???

Get some wire cutters if this is something you do regularly. Pick up a cheap pair at Harbor Freight.

And YES, I have cut hot power cords with wire cutters. It is far less 'exciting' than doing it with a knife. I presume. Because I've never cut a hot wire with a knife.

I'm sorry about your knife. I'm glad you are OK.

Sharpen that baby up and now you have a line cutter and wire stripper!

Horrible accident! You are lucky to be honest.....:D:D

Try contacting Glennbad here on the Forum, he can transplant blades I would imagine. Well, he removed a blade for me so I suspect he might do this too.

Thanks, Will

You might try contacting SwissBianco. He used to import special Victorinox alox models. I think he used to build SAK's with factory parts, so may be able to help.

His name is Roger at: http://swissbianco.com

Thanks for the info on 3 contacts, glennbad has done some great work for me in the past.
I knew I had seen some modded with screws and different liners, thanks for the links!

That's a fair amount of vaporized metal... it must have made one heck of an arc flash.

Glad you're okay - I have a pair of diagonal cutters that I notched the same way. The flash had me seeing spots for the next day.

Sorry - no help for the knife.

Go to the subforum., Custom Shop: Services offered. It is in the knife makers area. There are a couple of guys that do SAK mods. One that comes to mind is SAKModder

From personal experience; Victorinox wouldn't fix an old cross electrician I sent in. I offered to pay for blade replacements but they said they don't work on the old cross series any longer. I may have been given bad info but that's what they said. I was offered a 30% discount off of their MSRP but that's still higher than many online retailers.

I'll second the suggestion of contacting Syph. He Cando amazing ,and ordinary, things with SAKs.

I did that to a pair of Klein Lineman pliers once. Removed a "hot" water heater. They became my lending pliers and I sold them in a yard sale. Good luck with your exchange. Bet the factory takes care of it. If not, you have a great lending knife.

So your new nickname at work is "flash"?

Those sorts of events do make you take a deep breath when they happen. (as well as eliciting a few short words that likely can't be repeated here.) Been there. Done that. Although in my case it was a screwdriver that slipped and touched something it shouldn't have.

Glad it's only the knife that took the zap.

Ouch! I like the suggestion above about just using it, it will be a great story:)
