Sad day

Thank you so much for the beautiful poem, TKC. It really does help. It's really nice to have gotten so much support. Many thanks to everyone.

Sorry to hear that Smitty. You lost a member of your family today. I think there are two kinds of people in the world. One group treats their dogs as animals. The other group treats them as family. It is really hard when the latter loses their family member. I lost one of mine last year and can't remember a time in my life when I have been that sad. My thoughts and prayers are with you. It is hard to have to make a decision like that, but it is better for your little gal in the long run.

I have bonded with my Gracie who is now about 7 and a half months old. I was in Mammoth earlier this week and she did a 4 mile hike, and then we went to Mono Lake. While were walking along the shore line she started a two step dance. I realized her raw paws were picking up salt and stinging her pads. I hoisted her on my shoulder and hiked her back to the SUV and rinsed her pads with bottled water. She is about 100 lbs, and at 7k elevation +/- 1k, I was winded quite abit. I went through 4 bottles of water, which is all that I had. After that I realized, I really love this dog. I do not look forward to the day that she passes, I will be a mess. Gracie is family. You have my sincere sympathies. I am sure you have pictures that will make you smile still of your dog. They are special friends.
