Sad News - Don Nelson

Just lit smoke for Bill's journey. Will add another for Don.

Damn... He was extremely knowledgable, and I've been reading his posts on the sword forum.. :( :(

Seemed like a pretty swell guy.

That's a real shame. He seemed like a great guy and always had positive input. I noticed that he mentioned his daughter fondly several times. Maybe we could send an e-mail to his acct. letting her know of this thread at least, and our responses?

Here's a prayer that wherever he's at, he's happily going on adventures and slaying orcs with his wonderful 18" AK. :)

Regards,

Norm

"In Loving Memory of Don Nelson * Please Read
As many of you are now aware, Don Nelson experienced a heart attack on the night of June 6, 2004. I have just gotten off the phone with his wife, Nancy Nelson to let her know that her loss is felt in a most profound way by the international community here on SFI and that it was my privilege to convey to her how much Don's sharing, kindness, wisdom and experience meant to all of us. Nancy very much appreciated everyone's deepest sentiments.

I am going to ask you all for a favor.

SFI is going to put together a document of letters from anyone who wants to express their appreciation. I'll print these out on presentation paper and the cover will bear the SFI seal. I will try to present this to the Nelson Familiy in person. I only ask that you write more than one paragraph in the form of "Dear Don..." and write down where you are from. In this way the Nelson Family will see that Don has had friends around the world.

If you would like to make a contribution to the Donald Nelson Memorial Fund, please click on the link below. Everything will go to the Nelson Family or a charity of their choice.

All the words and sentiments from the SFI forum and HI forum are appreciated. Don's passing was as much a surprise and shock to those of us in his family, as he was only 47. Don always had a deep passion for those things that most interested him, and in the last few years it was swords. He had a way of passing on some of that passion to those around him, which was how I was introduced to HI and khukuris. As much as I respected him for his knowledge and his ability to share it with others, my deepest respect for him came from his passion for being the best possible father to his 13 year old daughter, Holly. Yes, we will all miss him. Wesley Hoenshell (Don's brother-in-law).

Thank you, Wesley...

Our family suffered this loss with yours.

Words don't always work, but we share your grief.
