I tried for damn near a week to sell a BNIB Reeve Sebenza 31 on the BST. Started at a low $425 and lowered down to $385 with absolutely no interest whatsoever. You cant even get rid of a new grail anymore without losing your ass. It's a buyers market for sure and everybody is looking for a handout. Its sad.

This site was created as a place to discuss the love of knives, their use and collecting by enthusiasts. Selling was added as a peripheral benefit of membership at the gold level or above...but it was never its raison d'etre.

If not being able to sell your knives for the price you desire is your main concern, there may be better venues for you to address those concerns outside of bladeforums.

Honestly man, with how quick the forum moves and depending on what time of day you posted it... sometimes people just miss it. They definitely don't always double back and read the edits/replies. I wouldn't overthink it, sooner or later it will sell at $385.

To add... a lot of people feel weird about purchasing high dollars knives atm due to the feedback system being down and most people seeking FF/ZELLE payments.

Things are slow over the summer, you posted on a Holiday weekend, Tanto CRK's are less in demand, you requested F+F or other No Recourse payment options and you've been here just over a year. Add to that the Feedback system being down and it didn't sell in 3 days.

⤴️ This.

Weekend traffic is lower here. Even lower on a holiday weekend.

Hang around here long enough and you can figure out when school is out and when tax returns drop. No one wants to buy an outboard motor in December (northern hemisphere 😉).

Good points, SwissHeritageCo SwissHeritageCo ! jmj3esq jmj3esq , stick with it. Just change your expectation from selling to finding the best match for a knife you yourself admire. It'll sell.

^^^ This.

The feedback system being down hurts. Maybe try PP G&S instead of F&F ?
I agree with this. Some buyers may be lacking confidence, because of the new type of scam affecting sales here. I believe that buyers can access the money for what they really want, but need to feel safe about the transaction. On certain flash sale Fridays, 40 or so CPK knives mostly sell out in one minute. I don’t see a lack of money or enthusiasm slowing down these sales.

It seems slow to me too, I wasn’t sure if it was just me or what I’m offering though…

First, IMO - it was a good deal and I was tempted. However, I have two Sebenza Tanto's a 21 & 31 - and - recently spent my knife allowance on something else.

I bet it would have sold if given a bit more time.

Having said that, I agree that the market is a bit slow right now and unless it's a hard to find item or a quick mover like a CPK then it may take a bit of time.

If priced right it will eventually sell. There are ebb and flows in the market and always have been, and some irems have less demand than others.
Tanto is certainly less demand than a drop point
Add in holiday, which are always bad, and can drain money as well.
If you still are looking to sell take the withdrawn down-and wait out your 14 days of listing, then post again. There is a match out there someplace at this price. You just need to keep it out there.
I have had knives sell in minutes and years.

Are you sure it wasn't created as a place to blame when things don't go just how you want them to? I mean, Bladeforums did cause the downfall of a much loved underdog American based knife making company, after all. Even though they did all they could to Survive!

ETA: I received a PM asking about this comment. It was a tongue in cheek reference to Survive Knives. Bladeforums did not cause its downfall. They blamed Bladeforums (actually they blamed just about everyone), but they caused their own downfall.

I really don't think we need to go down that road here.

Already been said but no G&S is an auto pass for me as well.

There are stickies and notices all over the forum telling buyers not to pay that way because that's how scammers get you. You're swimming up current if you don't take safe payments.

Also the price seems a bit high imo. I only follow Inkosis not 31s, but with those at $400+ range you're talking inlay models, and PJs are lower. It's been that way for quite awhile now. Magnacut works in your favor, but on the other side tanto lowers the number of buyers quite a bit. Edit: and that's the market everywhere, not just BF
