Sad to see the change made to NW Ranger guard, I really liked the simple soldered guard.
I miss the lined nylon sheath.
I wish the steel was D2 or ATS34 or better yet, H1.

I DO like that the blade is no longer combo edged.
 
Yeah, I miss the soldered guards, but the lack of serrations looks nice! D2 sounds like a good idea for the blade!

You know, I used to think stainless was the only sensible choice for blade steel. I think that's what the general public thinks, too. If more people besides us knife nuts wanted tool/high carbon steel non-stainless knives, I think more companies would make them (including SOG).
