I didn't use any topical bug spray of any kind. My mosquito net, however, was impregnated with the stuff. The bugs had no problems landing on the permethrin impregnated net, and in fact seemed to enjoy it. Even if they didn't love the stuff, they apparently had no problem biting me through it, literally thousands of times. I'm on steroids and I'm still itching through the stuff. Oh well, its only a couple more days. On the bright side, I never had a single solitary itch until AFTER I left the jungle.
