Rick Nowland Fillet ....


Here's a really beautiful custom fillet knife by southern Illinois knife maker Rick Nowland. The blade is 3/32" thick CPM-154 ss ,hollow ground & razor sharp,with a hand rubbed satin finish. The handle is green/black canvas micarta with red liners and mosaic pins. OAL is 10.5" , the blade is 5-3/4" from tip to handle scales with 5-1/4" of cutting edge. Right side vertical belt loop sheath by Larry Parsons,double stitched,finest hand split saddle grade cowhide.

This is a full size hunter by Mike Miller with moose palm scales. Tapered tang,red liners,ss pins & tube,and a 416 ss guard. Deep hollow ground 1/8" precision ground RWL,I do believe that's a Swedish razor blade ss,high satin finish. This knife is razor like,outstanding grind. Jimped spine for thumb grip. OAL is 9" with a blade that's 4-5/8" tip to guard,4-1/4" of cutting edge. Right side vertical cowhide belt loop sheath by Mike.

This drop point by Mike has a blade of 3/16" thick D-2 tool steel,acid etched. Hollow ground & pronounced swedge. Tapered tang,ss pins & tube. Green canvas micarta. Bret Dowell " EDC " . I worked with Bret to come up with a compact drop point,that's big enough to easily dress out a whitetail ,but could also serve as an all around fixed blade,or bird knife too. It is compact but yet has a four finger grip,it melts in your hand. I told Bret I wanted a Dowell though. This is what he came up with,his design. 3/32" D-2 is hollow ground & scalpel like. Green linen,red liners,ss corby bolts & lanyard tube. 6-7/8" OAL with 3" blade from tip to handle,2-3/4" of edge. Larry Parsons right side vertical belt loop sheath. I have the same sheath with no loop if you prefer. I personally think this is the sweetest little EDC drop point.
