Safe-keeping in, well, a safe!

Note sure they're made anymore, but a small safe that I purchased years ago, had some sort of fire retardant within it's double wall construction that actually released moisture into the safe over time. The papers I had stored within the the safe all became damp. Not sure silica gel packs would have been effective. Just something to keep in mind. Mike

Renter's insurance and good record keeping on the value of all knives you own, independent itemized valuation of each knife, will likely protect you better than a safe. Just my take.

I suspect a standard gun safe might be a better answer. If you go this route, take lots of pics and get a knife-shop owner to give you itemized valuation for each knife, along with pics. Then, of course, you have to buy the proper "riders" to go along with your policy.
IMO, you're better served being adequately protected against burglars...rather than attempting to collect from insurance companies after the fact.
