Well, my Protech TR4 is finally here and I can't decide if it will stay in the house for cool factor and to play with, or will I carry it and use and abuse this bad boy. It's pretty dang scary looking...and easily the sharpest knife I've ever owned.

What do you guys think?

USE IT!!! Autos are legal in TX now. Mind if I ask you where you got it?

Very cool blade by the way.

Price-wise it's in that sweet spot between collector and user but IMO leans a bit more to the user side. Very nice knife BTW.

I got it from horizon blade works. www.nicnac.net. VERY professional people, will definitely buy from them again.

Sorry if I'm not supposed to put that mods....

Thanks everyone, I'm leaving toward use it. For being 9" overall when open, it's carrys great!!!

I just bought one of those green PM2's also so I can have another defense folder to rotate out with this one...lol, I have a problem.

I say use it. Unless you are seriously investing for resale, I don't understand the 'safe queen' mindset.

Life is short. You've acquired something beautiful. Enjoy it, use it.

Otherwise you are just pointlessly saving yet another whatchamacallit for whoever is your Executor to deal with when you enter the nursing home. Or you get fatally rear-ended by a texting hipster.

My knives are all users. I can only use one at a time (looks silly with one in each hand) but I do enjoy them.

I would carry it. I'm not saying I would use it in the yard, but for cleaner things absolutely. I carry several knives

There's a lot of room between "safe queen" and "use and abuse." I say carry it and use it, but it doesn't have to be the only blade on your person.

Use it!! My whole life I was always the type to save things instead of using and enjoying them. Can't possibly tell you how many things I outgrew or lost interest in without ever enjoying them because I wanted to keep them safe.

Same thing started happening with my knives when I first began collecting. But I got so tired of watching them collect dust that I decided to use and appreciate them the way they were intended. I can tell you knives are far more enjoyable cutting with them than watching them sit on a shelf.

Just my opinion...do what makes you happy!

The biggest thing about it is saving my edge I think...I don't have the skills yet to get a knife this sharp, not in a million years

There's your next wise investment. An Edge Pro or something at least its equal. Then you'll find that a factory edge (most anyway) isn't done all that well. Just another thing to obsess about but at least when you dull that purdy new blade you can get it sharper and better than new.

Thats why i double up on pretty much every knife i buy sometimes triple. So i dont haffta stress about that.
