Safe Queen or User??

There's your next wise investment. An Edge Pro or something at least its equal. Then you'll find that a factory edge (most anyway) isn't done all that well. Just another thing to obsess about but at least when you dull that purdy new blade you can get it sharper and better than new.

I've got a sharp maker with ultra fine stones. Its my technique not my equipment I think...
And I'm not sure about that factory edge comment. Have you ever had a protech? I mean I am understand that factory edges aren't great on a lot of knives, I agree with you there, but this thing is insane! Sharper than some of my high end kitchen cutlery ($300-$500 a price range)

The SharpMaker is good for edge maintenance but when it comes to rebeveling nothing works as well as a decent guided system. Seriously, you'll kick yourself for not doing it sooner. Personally I kicked myself for all the money I spent on sharpeners before I got a decent one. I've got a box full of them.

I got the EP Apex and it has most everything you'll need to get started. There are even a few tips floating around the forum that will give you some great results. Also there are a lot of accessories and stones, strops, etc available for it. I cant see myself outgrowing it any time soon with all of the options available for it.

Use it!

Buy paintings or vases if you want to look at something and hope to sell it later

Cool thanks for this info. I really was rather lost when it came to sharpeners. I had a sharpmaker at one point before i traded it but even when i had it, I felt there was probably something better out there. Time to research!
