Sage 1 or Sage 5?

I agree with what others have said, if you like the Sage 1 and you have money burning a hole in your pocket go get it now. Enjoy it, it's a really nice knife. If you can only afford one knife and want to try a compression lock then be patient and wait for the Sage 5 to drop. It all depends on your situation and what you like. You really can't go wrong either way.

Has the Sage 5 been released yet? I haven't seen it available anywhere yet.
I'm having a similar dilemma, I'd really like to try a sage 1 but not sure if I should wait for the 5 instead. I love the compression lock on my Para 2s, but I would pull the trigger on a Sage 1 if there was a deal to be had, retail or in the exchange. There is nothing wrong with a liner lock and everyone has great things to say about the Sage 1.

The sage 5 isn't out yet...supposedly soon I believe.

From Sage 1 and Sage 5, I would lean toward the Sage 5....
But as I haven't handled a sage 5 I am not sure that the compression lock will be confortable to use a a knife the size of the sage.
I would like to compare it to the PM2 which I like a lot.

At the present time my take will be the Sage 2.

The sage 1 is just to "classic" for me, and shall I take a small titanium framelock I think I would look at a domino rather than on a sage...

Differences between them other than the lock:
- the 5 has a lanyard tube, the 1 doesn't
- the 5 has a stainless clip, the 1 has a black clip
- the 5 will have more grip with the peel-ply cf texture than the 1's twill cf
- the 5 has nested liners and might be slightly thinner than the 1, but we'll have to wait and see until it's released.
- the 1 is more of a gentleman's knife with its pretty cf and black clip IMO

I've been excited for the Sage 5, but if I had to buy one right now I'll probably pick the 1.

The Sage 1 is a very fine knife. Light, strong, and a good size for edc.
As much as I like that knife, I usually carry my PM 2. The compression lock
Is one of my favorite Spyderco features.
I d get both the 1 and the 5.
