Sage 2 lock fail

While I wouldn't rely on a framelock for any sort of abusive task, it sounds to me like yours is defective (even my old, rickety Ti Millie won't fail like that!). Call Spyderco, they'll take care of you.

mine locks like a bank vault. what a great little blade!

perhaps «someone» had the super clever idea to spine wack «test» it? lol

The Sage 2 is a nice knife but if the lock fails that is a terrible accident waiting to happen. It is only prudent to send it in ASAP.

On a side note, I do not trust liner locks nor frame locks for this very reason. I have seen too many fail in general use and from issues just like you describe. I'll take a back lock, CCBL, Axis lock, or etc. any day over a fail loc...er frame lock or liner lock. However, Spyderco, in my experience, does a better job on these locks than most companies. So, while the locks do not thrill me, I have a couple of Spydercos so designed.

Titanium is wonderful stuff, lightweight, strong and malleable.
Once pushed too far it does deform, so get it back to the factory for some TLC. :)

Don't judge a Spyderco off of a knife you bought used from someone on Reddit. You have no idea if the person you bought it from took it apart, or anything else for that matter. You don't truly even know if someone owned it before him and messed it up.

I have stopped buying knives second hand because too many people mess with them and they have no business doing so. Then they pawn what they don't want off on someone else with something like "lightly used, like new". No thanks. I spend the extra coin and buy new from legit dealers.
