Hey guys,

So im big into CRK knives and frame locks so I decided to try out the Sage 2 which I received in a trade. I have carried it in my back pocket for 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it.

However, the other day I didnt have my sebenza on me so I decided to clip the sage 2 into my front left pocket, i have never had a problem with my sebenza opening, so I didnt think twice about it....well i was in my car and reached in to grab my cash and I touched my finger to the blade, i didnt realize it was the knife at first but when I pulled my hand out of my pocket it was covered in blood. I have a nice gash on the tip of my ring finger now.

I am just wondering if anyone has experienced this? I know I probably should have switched the clip like i do on my BMs, but I just didnt think it would open that easily.

Any thoughts?

I alway carry my knives in my front pockets, tip up goes in the right front so the blade will not open and tip down go in the left front so it will not open on me. Never had a problem.

Hope everything heals up well for ya. Maybe a lesson learned as well.

Thats usually what I do as well. I guess just user error on my part.

Thanks man, glad my knife was sharp, its a pretty clean slice and flap, it should heal nicely.

My sebenza bit me one day when i was putting my wallet back in my right rear pocket. Didn't get stitches but it did give me a reason for a tetanus booster.

I have avoided putting anything in my pocket with a linerlock. I don't use a clip, but just drop knives in my pocket - unless they are too large.
I have a prototype Gerber linerlock with ATS34 steel that I used to carry in my right front pocket with keys and change. The keys opened the knife - the open back allows for entry of other stuff.

I've had the same thing happen to me a number of times. That's why I prefer tip-down carry. Heal quickly.

+1.

Though I still love my CRK's. Just be careful with them, and I normally devote one pocket to the knife, that's all that goes in there.

Hi Hoytarcher,

Sorry about the cut. Hope it heals quickly. Did you check out the detent?

Yeah, my keys were in that same pocket at the time, that may have been the problem

I do as well, I switched the clip so that the blade is forced into the seam of my pocket now though.

Another reason I go for IWB carry...

Can you fill me in as to what IWB is?

Thats what i do as well, just had a little to much in my pocket i guess.

Only knife that has "open" in my pocket is the Tenacious

Interesting, mine has never opened on me.

My small sebenza bit me that way once.

I hope mine wont, i may have to start carrying it in my right pocket.

I did check out the detent, it is intact and seems OK. I guess it was just forced open by my keys.

A good rule of thumb is to "sacrify" a pocket for your edc knife.
Keys, coins, lint are not knives friendly.
My Sebbie often wanted to get open as the stub get entangled.
Never had that issue with "hole in the blade" RIL knives.
Neither with tip down carried knives...

Happy regeneration ! :)

In Waist Band carry. Instead of carrying the knife in your pocket, you slide it inside the waistband of your pants, usually with the clip underneath your belt. That method works very well with the stainless handle Police model (tip-down) but when I tried it with an ATR (tip-up) the Cobra Hood snagged on the draw and waved the knife open before the blade tip cleared my clothes. I used to like that shirt, but at least I got to keep my kidney.

got shivers down my spine. Hope your finger wil heal well and fast. Like many suggested alredy, front left pocket is EDC knife only.

Yeah, i usually do that, just a busy day with loaded pockets did me in i guess.

The regeneration process is coming along nicely. its good 1.5 inch slice too.

I have carried many knives like that, the blade right next to the skin kinda scares me though. IWB carry for me is usually right beside by belt buckle so an accidental opening would be baddd.

Yeah, it shocked me. and thats what I am going back to, not worth having stuff in the pocket with the knife as i figured out. The sage 2 is sitting out of my EDC lineup for a couple days haha

Front pocket carry with the blade against the seam of the pocket in either left or right configuration works really well for me.
