Sage 2 opened in my pocket...

Personally I just tighten my knife's pivot until I can't get it to flick open no matter how much I try unless it gets to the point where it becomes hard to hold onto the knife.. Works so far for all the Ti/SS Framelocks and linerlocks I've had, from a large Sebbie (obviously) to the Chokwe, Gayle Bradley, and Military.

For me, safety is worth not being able to thumb-flick a knife open. pretty much started doing that after reading some posts by and buying a few knives from STR.

Cut myself fairly badly at least three or four times - once I had to pretty much glue part of my thumbpad back on to stop the bleeding.

It will happen with most knives-including a Sebbie-under the right conditions, with the possible exception of back locks and slip joints.

My Sage2 seems to have a relatively light detent, at least compared to my Military.

Is it possible to easily increase the detent force, or is it a real PITA ?

I suppose if you wanted to carry clipless, a small leather slipcase like the Sebenza uses would be a good idea.

I've never had it happen with my Benchmade 710 axis lock, carrying it loose in my pocket. You can easily flick it open if you pull back on the lock button, but if it is manually opened a bit it will spring back closed unless it is opened more than 1 1/2 inches. Past 1 1/2 inches it is pretty much neutral (it will move if you move it) until it is fully open and locked. The back of the 710 has a spacer along the whole handle so stuff can't get in there. I'm sure under certain conditions it could happen, but maybe less of a chance than with a liner lock?

Back of the blade against the seam is mandatory with tip up carried liner or RIL locks.
My Sage 2 carried that way cannot bite me in any way.
My GB carried is tip down though...

Noway:

I've never had it happen either, but a friend of mine had it happen with a SAK, so that convinced me :D

(Apparently the (dull) blade caught on a thread and opened as he pulled it out)

sorry to hear dude. If I have a knife clipped in my pocket (always front), it is the ONLY thing in that pocket. happy healing.

+1.

... and I normally devote one pocket to the knife, that's all that goes in there.

That's how I Roll!

A habit that I found myself developing is to lightly feel for my knife blade to make sure all is good before I put my hand in my pocket – or I just do it in general throughout the day.
But I do sometimes put my asthma inhaler in there with it.

Heal fast… :)

The Sage II does come open more easy than any folder I have seen.

When I swapped mine over to left pocket carry I was sure to change the clip. This is one knife you don't want to carry tip up with blade facing hand.

I've never had this happen with a sebenza, and will carry a sebbie tip up without worry.

But the SageII is the slickest opening framelock I've ever seen, and I like it that way. I love the way you can just pick it up by the blade and with a TINY flick its almost like it opens by its self.

I love the SageII this way, but would make sure to swap clip if putting in left pocket.

Due to Technical Difficulties within my brain, I idiotically posted something completely off topic, and have now deleted it.

Doh! I didn't even catch that. Boy do I feel stupid, right now.

Heck, don't feel stupid. I did about once a month before I realized how easy it was to do here at BF. I still say some stupid things, but just don't feel as stupid for doing so anymore:p
