Can someone post a pic with both the Caly3 and the Sage CF pictured together for comparison purposes..? Thanks!

Well, they're not together, but both photos were taken at the same distance, with the same lighting and the camera in the same position. Neither photo has been cropped, so their relative sizes should be correct...

CF on the the Caly 3 is flat, with a matte finish. CF on the Sage is textured, you can both see and feel the weave. Its finish is what I'd describe as a semi-matte, but the textured weave makes it show off the CF pattern better. Perhaps even better than the old high gloss CF, but without the reflections.

Does the weave texture on the Sage make it stick to the hand better then the Caly3? I've got a Caly3 in CF coming soon, and I'm interested in the Sage.

I would say yes. I've owned a Caly3 and while I thought the CF scales were nice, the Sage CF is the best I've ever handled so far in the Spyderco line up.

Personally, I love the peel-ply stuff they use on the Military & SuperHawk. I wish that (a) they used it more, and (b) I could pick up some sheets of it to use when I handle my S90V Mules.

I bought the Sage first and the CF is very nice. After realizing what a great knife it is, I just had to get the CF Caly3 as well and I am glad that I did. Both knives are perfect examples of how a small folder should be designed.

Buy both, you will be glad you did.

I'm seriously considering it. :)

Hard call. The texture may give it a bit more traction, at least when used with dry hands. Or it may just feel that way because that's how we think should work. Both surfaces are basically smooth, the Sage is just bumpy, but not rough. Where traction is concerned, both the Caly 3 and the Sage are a bit better than the shiny CF, but neither is anywhere near as good as the Stretch II.

Just got my Sage today. I'm hardly the first one to say this but (ta da!) this may be THE perfect Spyderco for me (and I didn't think it got better than the Caly III).

The Sage has the deep choil and broad/wide handle of the Native, the hump of the Caly/UKPK, awesome textured CF scales, the Caly/UKPK/Urban wire clip, and a linerlock. I've long avoided linerlocks but given Spyderco's ability to make vault-like locks, I'm happy to have this Walker-inspired model.

Congrats on your new Sage. The Sage truly is a joy to hold and use and seeing how it will be the platform for future lock types, it will just get better and better.

I have both the Sage and the Caly3 CF and I really like the feel of the Sage CF over the Caly3 CF. The bumpy texture really feels neat and gives it an interesting shine. I prefer the Sage's size (fits my hand better) over the Caly3 but it's hard to beat having ZDP steel. it's a very hard to choose.....get both!
