Sage II

Paul,
Your pictures pushed me over the edge, I just ordered a Sage II:D Just ordered a khukuri yesterday too and now waiting for the Ti Millie:thumbup:

I took a small rat tail file and rounded over the sharp edge of the Sage II's spydie hole, and knocked off the sharp corner of that edge that bisects the spydie hole.

Much better. :)

Thanks for the advise! I used a med spyderco rod from a sharpmaker and smoothed the spine. At the top of plunge line at spine(right above hole) was the sharpest/most crisp spot and it only took a few minutes to do it and get the whole spine as smooth as my other sydercos:thumbup:

I am impatient, and used the edge of rod with short 1/8 strokes to smooth inside of spyder hole. Yes, I got some tiny scratches, but boy it feels great!
And Yes, I know I should have drove into town and bought a rat tail file for the hole:o:D

I can't believe this day would come, but for the first time in 5 years I can say a knife has knocked my small sebbie right out of my pocket as my go to EDC!
The handle is the best I've ever seen on a 3" blade, making it my new favorite 3incher of all time!!!
Thats saying alot, but it is really that great a knife!

BTW-I think I'm as giddy over this knife as Rolf is his PARA:eek:

That green looks great! Do they still offer it? I was thinking about the manix 2...but maybe this bumped it down a notch!

How scratch resistant is a TI slab?

Call me obsessive compulsive, but It would hurt my soul for that fresh, unscathed looking handle to get damaged.

It will show scratches and rubs more than a black G-10 for sure, and many others. I havn't had mine but a week(and carried everyday), but my sebbies show smothing places and many tiny scratches. I think it looks good on a user.
No scratches down to silver at all on my Ti sebbies, so as long as my Sage wears about the same it should look even better in a year.

I'm a little OCD on my safe queens, but a rough looking user doesn't bother me one bit.

From what I've heard, more scratch resistant than the Ti on the Phoenix and some of Spyderco's older ti handled knives. Definitely a good bit more damage resistant than than SS handles and coated aluminum ones. And, as Ken noted, not as bulletproof as the plastics.

If you're that concerned about scratching, and want a Sage, go for the CF/Walker lock version. It's both very attractive and very damage resistant.
