Sage or Chaparral

I own a Chaparral and have handled a Sage and will buy one or more soon. Both are very nice but they are very different. It really comes down to your preference of size and lock mechanism. Just make a decision and move forward, you can't go wrong with either (and may end of up with both given time).

I just got a Sage 1 (and 2) and really like it. I also like smaller knives and I decided that I will eventually get a Chaparral too. I certainly don't need it but I think it would make a nice addition to my small, but growing, collection. I'm sure they're all nice knives and which one the OP should buy would depend on what they like.

I have both the Sage and Caly 3 - I've handled the Chaparral but it wasn't for me. Really like BOTH the Sage and Caly 3!

Its probaly best to get the knife in your hands (if possible) first and then make a decision.

Thanks everyone
Your input has been very helpful.
I'm currently leaning towards the chap, but am also leaning towards finding a native cf
Nothing for sure yet, but I'll keep digging till I'm sure which would work better for me.

I've owned both, but sold the Sage-1. It was too large for my needs. Both are great knives.

Decide on what you want size wise and which locking method you want and go from there.

Both knives are flawless.

The chap is the best suburban/office EDC I've ever used. No reason to hesitate purchasing the CF version. You'll carry it everywhere and it will disappear in your pocket until needed.

I have both the Chap and Sage 1. I'll also mention the Spyderco Dice which I also have. All three are great and very similar in size. The Sage feels great in the hand and the Chap's fit and finish seem a little cleaner but is really stiff. The Dice feels heavier and kinda clumsy. If I had to rank them It would be Sage, Chap and then Dice. If the Dice was priced at $100, then it would move up.
