sage2 or leafstorm or ...

I vote Sage 1 for an EDC, the carbon fiber doesn't show scratches at all unless you really beat the crap out of it and it has a texture with IMO a lot better grip. Same steel so even there. It's a good amount cheaper, and I don't know about anyone else but sometimes I feel bad using my $100+ knives for anything but I do use them all lol. Actually if you got the Sage 1 you could get a Tenacious with and it's steel cheaper then the Sage 2 and you can use the Tenacious for things you don't want to stain or mess the Sage 1 blade up on.

Just my .02

for those who have the leafstorm ever had any trouble with the back part of the blade poking you?

honestly, i was torn between the sage2 and the leafstorm as well. i ended up getting a mini ritter grip with m4. so thats another knife you could consider. don't forget the leafstorm has the pivot bushing. i think thats a super nice feature that most people look over.

i will suggest that you drop the extra cake on a small sebenza though. i don't think you'll regret it and if u do you could probably trade it on the exchange for both a sage2 and a leafstorm, or at least one or the other plus cash.

The Sage 2 is an incredible knife, it is much better than the Sage 1 in my opinion, however the Sage 1 is a very good knife. The Sage 2 has better ergonomics to me than the Sage 1, how is that possible you say since they are the same handle shape? Well the Sage 2 feels much better in the hand because of the R.I.L., when the lockbar is engaged the knife becomes slimmer in the hand, you don't get that effect on a liner lock.

Also to me personally when i first got a Sage 1 my first impression was this looks and feels cheap like any other plastic, i'm referring to the carbon fiber. Mind you this was my first knife with carbon fiber so i was thinking it would be really cool and different and that i would be able to tell that it was something special because it's expensive, but it just seemed like any old plastic to me. I have to say that it did grow on me and i was able to appreciate the carbon fiber more and the knife. My expectations were just to high to begin with.

I have the Leafstorm as well, it's one of my favorites, i usually carry this one most because i don't like pocket clips most of the time, and this one carries in the pocket real well because it's small. It's very solid, solidly built, solid lockup. I like the transparent G10 some don't but it's one of my favorite things about it. The blade is real thick which is a plus and it's got a nice hollow grind. My only major annoyance is that it's a little hard to disengage the lock with one hand.

All things considered i would choose the Sage 2 over the Leafstorm, they are both fantastic knives, but the Sage 2 wins for me because of the deep carry pocket clip, the lock bar is nice and thick, and it engages and disengages very easily, and it just seems a little more versatile than the Leafstorm. I'm happy to say i have both.

The Sage is larger than a Caly3, and I find the Caly3 a bit too much most of the time.
My preferred Spyderco knives are the Walker Cf (3 5/8" long with a 2.6" blade and the Rookie (3 4/4" long with a 3" blade. I shortened the blade of my Rookie by 1mm on a belt sander.
If you need 2.5" exactly, then you are limited to the Leafstorm or a Kopa - the Kopa is a nice knife and there are still some around.

thanks for all the help guys.
I scraped together the money and bought a sage2 off of someone on the forum.
pics when it comes in.
super excited
