hey guys its time for a new knife and i just cant decide. so i need some help and opinions.

what would you go with a para or a sage2ti ?

Manix 2 :p

I'd go para probably, I prefer a Spyderco that says

Golden, Colorado
U.S.A. Earth

Get both!
hah Depends on what you're going for!
Sage definitely has a classier look vs. the aggressive look of the para :p
Sage: more bellie, person friendly, more money
Para: agrressive, more narrow tip, better ergos

That depends on if you want G10 handles or titanium? A framelock (RIL) or a compression lock? Which one appeals to you more?

haha in the future i do plan on getting both (if the sage2ti becomes unavailable ... i'll just have to settle for a sebbie...)

hahaha "exactly" is all i'd have to say.

the more i read about both... the more appealing they become to me. and i've come to the point where i want BOTH of them... lol. but im only letting myself get one for now. 'lest i break and go buck wild on my visa lol.

thats why im asking for your opinions and such.

i've decided to leave it up to the majority vote of this thread as im sure i'd be equally satisfied with both knives.

thanks for your opinions in advance

I like the simplicity of the framelock over the compression lock. I just don't care for the big convoluted liner lever the compression lock has. I like the open design of the sage. Easy to inspect and clean. You get that with the Para too. Like the blade shape and choil of the Sage a little better too. Kind of an easy choice for me. YMMV. ;)

Well, as far as blade steel goes, they both use S30V. I don't own a Sage2, but I do own a couple of Paras.
I'm sure the Sage is a fine knife, but I'd have to recommend the Para. I'm certain you will be happy with it as a user. :D

speaking of locking mechanisms i know the para is rated for very heavy use meaning 200lbs per blade inch

does anyone know the mdc rating for the sage2ti?

For either one, if you are putting that much force on the blade stop what you're doing, and take a desk job, you do not belong around knives.

Agreed. That would be an accident in waiting. Better off to go fixed blade.

lol i do agree as well... but i do find the numbers interesting. also im sure they test it for a reason.

Assuming I suddenly became right handed, then between those two, the RIL Sage would win hands down. To me, 3mm is already too thick for a pocket knife blade and 4mm is absurd. I also find Spyderco's textured G-10 to be the least attractive handle material they use. Don't find knives where the tang is exposed when they're closed all that attractive either. The Sage also has a more efficient handle design, giving it a better blade to handle ratio. The only "pluses" for the ParaMilitary are that it has a lanyard hole and accommodates tip down carry, but they're just not enough to make up for everything else.

As things stand, I'll stick with the Stretch II. :D

To show off, or to use as needed, no worries?

Not saying that the Sage doesn't make a good user, but i sincerely doubt it is as good to work with as the Para.

Its always better to eventually get both. But if you haven't gotten your hands on a para yet, you might wanna try that one out first.
