Sak as an edc

Anyone clip the blade on their SAK?
I've always wanted to do that as the spearpoint blade is one of the only things preventing me from carring my SAK.
The thing is that you would be losing the nail nick. Of course one could make a new one, but I would probably screw that up.

A couple thoughts:

First, for opening boxes/packages, it's hard to be a sheepsfoot, or even better, a hawkbill or pruning blade. Look at the Victorinox Pioneer Rancher or Pioneer Pruner. The short pruning blade on these knives is great for cutting taped boxes, cardboard, and is also probably the best out there for the most evil of evils, clamshell packaging, short of laser vision. The utility and control of that blade simply can't be matched, IMO.

Second, for cutting taped boxes, perhaps it's not the knife, but your method. If a box is heavily taped down the middle, and cutting it in one stroke doesn't work, stab it in the middle, cut one way, then cut the other. Or just stab anywhere on the tape. A stab is far easier than an initial cut, and gets things started quicker than a slice does. Maybe that method doesn't seem as awesome as a single cut would, but who really cares? It takes maybe a second or two longer and gets the job done without frustration.
