My Compact model has slight side to side play, I took the scales off and tried to hammer the pins in gently but it didn’t help. Anything else to try?

If it is sentimental and you want to keep it, then Victorinox could repair it. Otherwise, I would suggest you buy a new one, they are inexpensive and widely available.

Victorinox offers free repairs, but I'd check whether posting the knife is more expensive than buying a new one. Do the liners look OK? I had a wee bit of blade play on a Climber that I used for years due to a bent liner (teenager me probably abused it).
