SAK:Classic Red or Alox

BTW, how long does the red scales SAK last with normal use?

God Bless

I have an old Spartan with red cellidor scales, the scales have scratches and aren't as shiny as new ones, but they are still not broken. It is one of my favourites for EDC. Those scales can last quite long, I've read stories of people having the same scales for decades. If the scales break, it is quite easy to replace them by new scales.

Make compromise and get red alox ^^ Alox versions are tough as door nails... though cellidor are not bad. Alox just is better and sturdier.

My oldest still using Victorinox is old spartan from the early 90's. Still good to go. Just few weeks agi I saw that there was open seam between one cellidor and frame. Nothing what small bit of grazy glue would have fixed. Victorinoxes in generally are seriously tough knives with excellent blades, wether cellidor, alox or wood handles.

I have carried a Huntsman for 20 years and it is just fine. But lately I have been carrying a Farmer. The Farmer does seem to be stronger. But my Huntsman has lasted 20 years and still going. So how weak can they be? Either one will do you right. Get both and use them both.

I don't think you can go wrong with anything Victorinox makes. I think it's a matter of taste. How does it feel in your hand? That will tell you which one to buy.

I have a red Cybertool - possibly the least tough of my knives/multi-tools but definitely not the least useful. Do you need a tough SAK?

BTW
I've never broken or lost anything from my SAK - after around a decade of EDC everything is still original and working perfectly.

I've carried and used both, prefer the cellidor. Love the awl on the alox, but find the thin blades handier. Also like the hand and pocket "feel" of the cellidor more.
