If you do not drink wine what do you use the corkscrew for? How does this device aid you in a survival situation? Just looking for some ideas.

Thanks,
Colt

Just to hold the eyeglass screwdriver.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

Untying problem knots (works really well!)

A "reamer" to clear out dust from drilling with the awl or other drill, and smooth the bore

A "starter" for the awl when drilling softer wood

punching holes in hides

running used snare wire through it to straighten out kinks and coils

To hold fishing line and pay it out while "survival fishing," and then, when you pull on a catch, it locks the line (like a caribinner)

A control for weaving cordage into a cloth or mat

To open that wine when a pretty girl asks me to help her out

I actually know why the SAK has a cork screw, its kinda funny, but when canning first was the invented they used bottles. So when the inventor of the SAK made his knife, he added a corkscrew.T he can opener was later invented and added, and the corkscrew was never removed from the design. Yes I know a bit of pointless trivia.

I can draw any knife I want, I just can't afford to make it, or buy it.....

I have used the corkscrew to remove a drain plug out of a bathtub once. Worked really
well, but ruined the plug.

Anybody know where I can get JUST the eyeglass screwdriver that goes inside the corkscrew?

I've picked some up at Sears Hardware stores. Ours here has a Victorinox display with them. Couple three bucks.

If you can't find them, let me know. I'll get you one and drop it in the post.

How about using the corkscrew to attach knife to end of pole for makeshift spear. Take your Rucksack, open its corkscrew, screw into pole until it lays against surface. Open locking blade and voila. You can fix it further with single short cord or piece of wire. Similarly, you might be able to improvise traps with knife blade to kill/severe trapped animal.
