SAK custom scales

I have seen a few SAK with custom scales. Exotic hardwood cabon fiber etc... My question is how do they get the shield in the material? Do they take a shield out of and old scale? Can you buy the shield by itself?

Any help would be great.

I have seen the sheilds somewhere but I'm not sure where.
Be sure to post a pic of your moded SAK when your done.

I don't know of any way to buy a shield by itself. People get the shields from old scales, usually the ones being replaced with wood. You can push the metal shield out from behind, although it apparently goes easier if you apply a bit of acetone first to soften up the plastic scale.
