sak experience

I love my Swiss Champ. I last used the hook for carting a case of fresh pineapples that my wife bought on a business trip to Hawai'i from the baggage pick up to the parking lot. Saved my fingers. I probably baby it too much as it was a gift from my aging father. I EDC a Spyderco serrated Endura as well as a Buck 110 (which isn't quite as versatile for the finer tasks) so the Vicsak usually is not too far away.
The Leatherman is not one I own as I have gotten a free SOG multi-tool off the roadside and found another similar thing from diving the river below the rapids. Rarely use either due to their being in the truck glovebox most of the time....

The Voyager is by far my favorite because it has a huge amount of tools compressed into the perfect size so that you can still have a fairly large blade for an SAK. The Camper and Swiss Champ are also very good the camper is very rugged but not as many tools and he swiss champ is a bit large for an SAK IMO. Whatever you decide, best of luck.

I just bought a huntsman light today, sad to say my first SAK ever very embarrased. Anyhow I love the thing much more than I thought I would, I find the light to be very bright for its size and quite useful, I like the two small blades and the saw, the light and the sizeable scissors. Its my first real SAK and I am impressed, just moves through cardbaord like butter. My next will be the ranger, then I want the champ, soooo many toys on that thing, too big for me to carry prolly but hay if I go camping I wont need anything else, I hear its got a 2 man tent in it with a stove ;)

paulwesley write "i dont want a real thick one and i dont need a corkscrew"

i recently baught the Vic Trailmaster and i am quite please with it.
their is no corkscrew but a Phillips screwdriver instead.

I order it from Bestknives online shop (but there is plenty online shop offering almost same deal).

The SwissChamp XLT has everything, and I have one of those, but for me it's too bulky and has way many functions than I need. For me the Fisherman works just fine.

Thanks for the quick answer on the Huntsman thickness.

As for the "don't need a corkscrew" comment, I bought the Leatherman Juice S2 (scissors instead of corkscrew). The first week I had the tool I was at my buddy's house with a bottle of wine...and no corkscrew! I could have kicked myself.

I have Wenger (a model like Vic Tinker, don't know how this Wenger model called) as my always EDC for at least 10 years along with other knives.
It does his job!

Could your SAK be the Wenger Canyon?

I used to be a phillips person. I really, really did. But then I realized how lame the 90 degree phillips is (awkward to use, slips a lot more than the can opener or 90/180 phillips), and even though I'm too young to drink wine, I decided I'd rather have the corkscrew because it can hold the miniscrewdriver, pick knots, and I can, in a pinch, use the can opener screwdriver to turn a phillips screw (don't make a habit out of this, though, it's bad for the screws and the driver). But if you're ever trapped in a room filling with water and need to escape through the ventilation duct...just sayin.

:D
