SAK fans?

I recently bought one of the Spartan Black Ps models. It will be mostly just display. I won’t carry it. But the blacked out scheme got me 🤣. May put white scales on it. And make it a storm trooper.

I’m hunting for a decent priced waiter and old electrician for my collection
Victorinox knows how to sell knives... that's for sure.

Oh I’ve been collecting various classics for a while. Limited, exclusive, they make it fun for sure. Looking for a old NFL Oilers one and a U.S. Navy one. (I’ve seen the other branches. But no Navy)

Same. Most of the time I’m all good with minichamp.

Oooh. May have to give that a look! I just wish it still had the toothpick and tweezer
They do make a version of the Mini Champ in cellidor with toothpick/tweezer. You might also like the Rambler, which is the classic with the cap-lifter/phillips. A favorite of mine is the discontinued Vagabond/Mate series in the same size, which is like the mini-champ minus the ruler and coke spoon. You can still find them NOS on occasion.

I'm not ready to give up a primary folder, but I do carry a SAK pretty much daily, even when I also carry a Swisstool. My top three tools are scissors, cap lifter, and fingernail file/cleaner; and I do find having a dedicated package opening blade/tool as a nice bonus. The problem for me is that there aren't a whole lot of (factory) SAK's that have the combination of those three tools.

I really like the Compact, and like the fact that it adds the pen in the scales, but honestly I find the file on the hook lacking (though I'm glad it's there and wish it were on all the hooks)

Then there's the Evo series and the Wenger knives they are based on. I have a fondness for those just because I'm a nerd, but I really can't recommend them because Wenger scissors are quite inferior IMO. However the old Wenger knives do have a can opener that can easily be sharpened and double as a package opener.

There is a recently released model called the Companion, which has the three tools I like plus a new package opening tool, but for now it is only available as a limited edition. I picked one up but haven't carried it much yet because I plan to swap the scales

I'm also not above carrying a classic along with a larger SAK to get the combination of tools I want

Yup. I personally think Victorinox and Leatherman should have a custom feature in their websites. I wouldn’t mind paying a reasonable premium to build a tool (either brand) with the tools I want and don’t want. I think they’d make a killing.

For me, the Cadet is the best size. If it had scissors, that would be perfect. Gotta jump on opportunity to post pics of SAKs :D

I was JUST saying above I won a Fleabay Spartan Black PS. And planned to storm trooper it with white scales.

Agreed. And now that you mention it, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the custom thread in the Multi-tool subforum, and some of the great builders here like Spikediesel Spikediesel that build custom SAK's.

Alox Minichamp always on the keychain, Pioneer X in the travel kit, Explorer Plus on the bedside table, Cybertool Lite in the folder disassembly kit, Spirit in the toolkit, kitchen duty: Outrider. Sometimes EDC a black Alox Pioneer or a Traveller. OH Trekker and a Ranger for outdoors.

I carry a rambler on my keychain
Fantastic small SAK

Before getting into locking knives I was used to carry a Spartan and has been very happy with this model

I’ve got a walnut-scaled Huntsman in my day bag and an alox Harvester/7 in my jacket pocket. Good to be prepared!
