Hello everybody, I haven't posted in W&SS in a long time, but it used to be my "home turf" up until I switched over to dealer. I used to always hear how great the Victorinox Farmer was and everyone always recommended it.

Well I finally got one for myself and it came in today!!!

It's an excellent pocket knife and I see why everybody always preaches about these things :D

I think my favorite feature besides the Alox handle is the Saw. I've always liked Victorinox saw blades. All the parts are sturdy and fully functional. Everything snaps open with a solid "thwack" and it has a great overall feel.

I know there are dozens of SAK threads, but I really wanted to bring this one to attention. It actually does seem to be the perfect EDC for the city and outdoors.

Thanks for listening, J.

Edit: here's a quick pic of it with the knife, saw, and flathead/bottle opener up.

Yup. I love mine, which I got last month. I carry it in my backpack because it's my backup knife and I lack pocket space, but it's always there. Love it.

EDIT: That bottle opener comes in handy to open a good homebrew!

I agree 100% for a good all around pocket knife. I gave that saw a workout last weekend and it goes thru limbs with ease. I even had a substantial bend in the blade while sawing and it never snapped and returned to true.
Great little tool!

they're great knives... very popular amongst folks here in W&SS...

i actually wouldn't getting another.. :o i gave mine to a cousin for his b-day and ended up getting a modded version from scibeer(bill), with just a blade, saw and an awl.. it also has anodized scales and a pocket clip... it's pretty darn cool...

I don't have one yet, maybe I should order one and see for myself what all the pluses are...

I like that it's very pocketable. I always have a knife clipped to my pocket and then a small SAK riding IN the pocket. This will replace my Classic SD for daily carry in my pocket and my OHT for outings.

The Alox also feels great :D It seems like it could be run over and it would still make it afterwards :p

The only thing I'd change about it would be giving it steel liners for added strength. It's otherwise my dream Swiss Army Knife.

I loved my red and silver Farmers - but I wanted a blue one, too. I finally found one - bid on it - lost it. Next, I ordered a blue Farmer & 2xAA LED (Inova) flashlight set for $30 from a dealer - much cheaper than my bid - and I got a nice light - and larger tin box for a big 'kit'.

Sadly, they started my quest - I got a Vic Soldier - similar, but slimmer (no saw!) - and a Vic Pioneer Harvester - same size as the Farmer. It has a short curved blade, for pruning, in lieu of the can opener. The Vic ALOX SAKs are addictive!

I guess I am back to favoring the Farmer. The Pioneer Harvester would have 'won' if they had just replaced the cap-popper with the pruner instead of the can opener. I always seem to have canned food - not capped bottles - to open. That awl is very useful in camp-carving.

I love the farmer. I have 3 more on the way. One in each color. to add to the Farmer stock. hehehe. I have a few now, and Im gonna probably order another set soon. Not because I need em, but because I love this model so much, and for some reason I have trouble locating them in the colors. I like to give em as gifts. Thats waht Ive done with alot of them Ive stored up. They make a great gift. Its a robust, classy, hard as nails, SAK with a great combo of tools. I want one from Scibeer with a clip and in the black anno.

It seems there's another Farmer thread every other week. I suspect that if one does a search for either the word "farmer" or "love," you'd end up with the same search results. :)

More farmer love here, I just purchased one a month or so ago and have since got a second "just in case":D It rides in my knife pocket for EDC as well.

SierraTradingPost has them for $15.96 with the "baknife" discount. Silver, red, and blue. I just added two red and two blue. After shipping and our local tax it comes out to less than $20 per. Just FYI.
