We always have threads asking about three knife combinations.
Dress knife, EDC, field knife, etc.

Here is one with a twist. What would you pair up with your SAK?

Let’s say, a SAK, flashlight, and a folder of some sort.

The only SAK I own is the BACKPACKER.
Staying with the outdoor theme, my camping flashlight is the FENIX LD30.
Trail walking folder is the SPYDERCO MANIX 2.

That’s basically what I carry every day.

A SAK Yeoman, Surefire Titan-B plus, Knipex Cobra XS, and a knife (a Fox Yaru today).

Well today it's been
SAK Electrician
Ultra-Tac AA Flashlight with a 14500 battery instead of a regular AA
Cold Steel mini Recon 1.

But what I carry depends on what I expect to be doing. Today it's just been chores around the house.

I always have my SAK huntsman on me! That's in addition to whatever fixed blade and two folders I pick out for the day!.. Of course I had to get some green micarta covers for it though!!IMG_20200921_100046_kindlephoto-682567522.jpg

I carry a SAK at all times in the backpack I use to haul my laptop, lunch, etc. I also carry a Thorfire VG10 (small tail cap button 18650 light) and whichever folder I get to carry that day.

When I am outdoors, I don't use handheld flashlights... headlamps rule big time.

SAK and flashlight works for me, too.

I posted this in the "EDC" thread a while back. It was a day when the Mine Safety inspector was on site. I'm a Miner's Rep, and a Sparky, so inspection days are "dealer's choice" for what's going to be in my pockets.

The Alox Electrician has been my at-work carry for three or four years, and the Streamlight Pro-Tac 2-LX replaced my Sunwayman last year. I wish the Pro-Tac had the Sunwayman's clip.

The radio is clipped to a back pocket, almost all the time, and the rest changes depending on the job, and how close I am to my truck.

So if I were to carry a SAK over a pliers based multitool, I would most likely go with a Climber or Huntsman depending on if I were EDC it or taking it out into the woods. As far as flashlights go, I'm super basic. A maglite Mini LED is more than enough for my illumination needs. As far as a folder goes, that would also depend on if this were more for day to day adventures or stomping in the woods. I would either go with my Large Inkosi as good hard use EDC folder that could handle most things or go ridiculously large for the woods and bring along my Cold Steel Voyager XL. Regardless, I would want more blade length and robustness than what the SAK offered if I were to carry another knife.

Fieldmaster, Fenix E12, Gayle Bradley 2. With those 3 I am ready for anything

There is only one flashlight for me, and that's the Surefire A2 Aviator. I've been carrying one since the first incarnation for over 15 years now, and ever since I became accustomed to the red low output secondary beam, it is something I can no longer live without in a flashlight. Seriously, it's such a useful feature to me, that for the life of me I can't understand why it didn't become a regular feature on all EDC lights. I know technology has progressed a great deal since these lights were introduced; and there are now many smaller, brighter, less expensive, rechargeable, etc., lights; but this model has served me so well for so long that I just don't see a need to look elsewhere. There is a 3rd generation out now as well, but I like the simple interface of depressing the tail-cap lightly for low-output red, or fully for full bright white. I'm sure I could also delve into high-end custom lights and fit my needs, but that's a hole I have yet to fall into (emphasis on the yet ;) ).

For the SAK, I'd like to stretch the rules and go with the Swisstool in black oxide (it's a Victorinox at least ). I've also carried one of those daily for many years, and since I always have it on me it has precluded my from having the need to find the perfect regular SAK. The two that I do carry on occasion however are the Cadet and the Rambler (I usually find a classic design that I like and swap the covers over to a Rambler). Therefore for the sake of this thread, I will go with one of those if forced to pick a true SAK. Truth be told however, my perfect one would be a 91mm with scissors, cap lifter, and nail tool/file (plus other tools).

For the folder, I'm afraid I'm going to have to be cliché and go with the Sebenza.

A class act, for sure.

I also like the Surefire Aviator. I can’t afford one but I still like them.

Thanks! Yea, the prohibitive cost is another reason I haven't tried the newest version. I was lucky when I bought my A2's back in the day and found a guy who was selling them at a crazy discount at less than half of retail. I can't remember where because it was so long ago, maybe one of the gun forums, but I snatched up a few while I could. They've all lasted without a hiccup other than a couple of broken clips that caught on things which Surefire promptly sent replacements for. In fact, the original incandescent model I bought in the early 2000's was still going strong when I sold it to a collector a few years back.
