SAK for an 18 y/o Birthday gift?

My boy turns 18 next week. I'd like to get him a SAK as something special. Not too rich at the moment so looking at about a $30 budget here. Ideas? Suggestions?

Steve, I support the Alox SAK suggestion, too. Pioneer can be found for well under $30, Cadet and Electrician for $30 each, and Farmer and the new Pioneer+scissors for under $35 each. I'd have a hard time deciding between the last 3 I listed!

I don't know if you have enough time now, but a Pioneer with his initials or something laser engraved, would be very cool! There are various websites who do this and could probably be contacted about express service. You might have to go over your budget by $15 or so, but I think it would be worth it.

I agree with the Alox Farmer suggestion, since he's an outdoors guy and works with his hands. The blade selection is good and the knife is big and tough enough to take some real use/abuse. Not sure if they can be regularly found under $30 but I bet the big auction site would be your friend, in that case.

I checked out the Farmer. But I'd bet he would like something with a scissors. Suggestions?

If you like the Alox but want scissors, then check out the Pioneer X (new version of the Pioneer with scissors added).

That is very helpful information. Definitely go with an Alox model. Pioneer, Pioneer X, Farmer, or Electrician.

The Cadet is very nice (I have two) but smaller than the four I listed above. IMO, for someone who works in construction, one of the slightly larger patterns would be more useful. Pioneer X has scissors. That'd probably be your best bet.
