SAK for survival???

>"I hate SAK's, i used to use them alot when i was a kid but when i grew up i kept breaking them and pushing them too hard. I will admit i am hard on my knives and tend to abuse them alot. SAK's are still useful around the city for the bottle opener and scre drivers but in a survival situation i would much prefer a more solid tool, in a survival situation the only thing a SAK has over any other knife is the saw."

===============================

Seems like the most important asset in a survival situation would be knowing how to properly use the tools at hand.

Well, any knife is better than no knife in a survival situation, but I think a full-sized multi-tool is much better than a SAK for survival.

Depends on the multitool. Do you really need pliers in a survival situation? (Unless you need to repair a motor or something...always have appropriate repair tools with any vehicle.)
The SAK saw is pretty good as multitool saws go, so I'd rather have their saw than some of the multitool saws.
Of course, if you really think you'll need a saw, you can go to Ace and get a little pull saw and a couple of extra blades--all for under $20. If you do need it the sawing will be easier.

I love and trust my sak's.Soldier around town and a 4 inch one with saw for the woods.

BTW a guy I work with broke the screw driver trying to turm a large slotted screw. It was years old,he sent it in to Victorinox for repairs. They sent him a new one PLUS his old one back.

Lone Hunter,
This is a bit off topic but I grew up in Canandaigua. How was your hunting season this year?

Jason

Junkyard,WOW I hunt in Canandaigua.Remember Creekside gun shop?I hunt all around there,my wifes family farms about 4,000 acres. We own 116 acres on county road 30 and Short road.

Well I had a strange season,oh I got meat but but no bucks, frist time in 15 years.Guess I should not have passed up the year and a halfs in bow, waiting for the "bigone"

All the fields were plowed ground this year no crops,no beans or corn during the hunting season due to a bad growing season. Now a lot of guys did well, just not me.See my brother-in-law who NEVER gets a deer shot one on opening day, which sent the earth into some strange kind of twin universe...

I heard that Creekside went out of business, is that true? How about Holcomb shooters supply? I didn't get a chance to even go hunting this year. My Dad still owns land on Rt 21 South just outside of Cheshire. We went hunting every year, but now I'm lucky to get back to visit. So how has the winter been treating you?

Jason

What's the difference between the Victorinox Rucksack and the Forester? I currently have the Trailmaster which I chose because I didn't think I'd ever need the corkscrew. I'm bourbon(Jack[yeah I know...TN whiskey] & Knob Creek) and beer(Guinness & Newcastle) kind of guy. :D Are there any other uses for the corkscrew that I don't know about?

well it can hold the little glasses screwdriver, which can be a lifesaver if you wear glasses. It's much easier to turn a philips with the screwdriver on the tip of the can opener, than it is to turn a glasses screw wtih any implement on the the knife... Of course that being said, I still carry the Trailmaster over my Rucksack because it just feels more solid. I carry the glasses screwdriver in the corkscrew of my Camper model...

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about the small screwdriver. I wear glasses, so that would be a good item to have.

Has anyone seen the Hercules, Locksmith, or Outrider in any webstores here in the US? I found them on Victorinox's site.
